Possible Fort McMurray biker gang members face a number of charges.

Wood Buffalo RCMP have arrested and charged several people suspected of being Fort McMurray biker gang members in connection with two violent incidents on June 2 and June 4.

On June 2, police responded to a bar on Dickens Dr following a complaint about a fight that had broken out between two alleged rival motorcycle gangs. Police allege the rumble involved members of the Fort McMurray Syndicate Motorcycle Club and the Warlocks Motorcycle Club. The caller told police that there were several people fighting and that the battles had spilled out into the neighbouring residential area.

Two days later, during the evening hours of June 4, police were called to a home in the Dickensfield area of Fort McMurray after a number of people inside the home were allegedly threatened.

Wood Buffalo RCMP along with the Drug Section and ALERT’s Wood Buffalo Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit investigated the incidents and have laid charges against several people in connection with the two events.

George Sutherland, a 38 year-old Fort McMurray man, has been charged with two counts of uttering threats to cause death, as well as one count of breaching conditions.

Cst. Christina Wilkins of the Wood Buffalo RCMP says “Sutherland was previously released on conditions relating to a matter stemming from an arrest at a Thickwood-area night club in December 2012. During the earlier occurrence the accused was charged with Cocaine Possession for the Purposes of Trafficking as well as for Possession of a Prohibited Weapon”.

George Sutherland was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in court on June 19, 2013.

Kristian MacEachern, a 28 year-old man from Fort McMurray, has been charged with drug possession for the purposes of trafficking, three counts of breaching conditions, possession of proceeds of crime, two counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, and two counts of possession of prohibited weapon.

Wilkins says MacEachern remains in police custody and is expected to appear in court on June 17, 2013.

The charges against George Sutherland and Kristian MacEachern have not been proven in a court of law.
