Two members of the Hells Angels biker gxxg pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges of conspiracy to commit murder.

Sylvain Chalifoux and Alain Durand were among the 144 suspected gxxg members swept up in a series of raids dubbed Operation SharQc, which began in the spring of 2009.

In return for the pair's guilty plea, Crown prosecutors agreed to drop other charges against them, including murder, gxxgsterism and drug trafficking.

The Crown also promised not to call the pair as witnesses to testify against others set to appear in the so-called "mega-trial" of motorcycle gxxg members.

With time already served — which counts as double-time while awaiting trial — Chalifoux will remain behind bars for another five years and three months, while Durand still has six years and three months' prison time to serve.

A publication ban is in effect, barring media outlets including CBC News from reporting any details of the Chalifoux and Durand cases.

The first of the mega-trials of motorcycle gxxgs is set to get underway on Sept. 3, involving members of the Hells Angels' Sherbrooke chapter.
