A senior member of the Nomads outlaw motorcycle gang has been charged after allegedly using his mobile phone to film inside Fairfield Local Court.
The alleged offence occurred while a matter was being mentioned at the court on Monday morning, and the video was then uploaded to a social media site.
The following day investigators from the Gangs Squad’s Strike Force Raptor spoke with a 31-year-old man at Sydney Domestic Airport, and he was later given a future court attendance notice for using a recording device in court premises.
This offence carries a penalty of up to a year’s imprisonment.
The man is due to face Fairfield Local Court on April 13.
Strike Force Raptor was established by State Crime Command’s Gangs Squad in 2009. It is a proactive and high-impact operation targeting outlaw motorcycle gangs and any associated criminal enterprises.
