A couple in Bedford has received help from an unlikely source, after clogged storm drains caused their home to flood.
Ian McKenzie and Patrick Ward say the repair bills to their Bedford home have already climbed to $10,000. Their insurance company refuses to cover the damage because groundwater caused the flood.
Although the city is responsible for storm drains, the couple has been told to save receipts and submit a claim. On Friday, the couple said they're worried it will happen again the next time it rains.
McKenzie says he's no longer concerned, after receiving a phone call from a stranger.
"He said what can I do? And I was so thankful to get that call, and that somebody listened and that somebody wanted to help. It was just wonderful," he said.
When the man arrived at McKenzie's house on Sunday evening, he brought snow removal equipment and two friends. McKenzie instantly noticed they were all wearing matching hoodies.
"They're all part of the Bacchus motorcycle club, and you know he called on a couple of his friends and they came over. They did some traffic control and they did some shovelling as well and cleaning up the sidewalks again after he was done," said McKenzie.
The men cleared ice-clogged catch basins on two streets. McKenzie said he offered the pay them, but they refused.
Bacchus is one of Canada's oldest biker clubs, with long-time links to the Hells Angels.
The bikers who did the community work in Bedford couldn't be reached for comment.
