Harley-Davidson recall thousands of bikes following customer complaints

Harley-Davidson has begun a recall of 46,000 of their motorbikes after complaints concerning biker safety were made.

The recall issued by the US manufacturer from within the United States has been made regarding the issue of the clutches that are not fully disengaging, resulting in the bikes becoming stuck in gear.

The models which are being recalled include certain Electra Glide, Ultra Limited, Police Electra Glide, Street Glide, Road Glide and Road King models from the 2014 and 2015 ranges.

The root of the problem has been attributed to gas bubbles forming and causing the clutch master cylinder to lose its ability to disengage the clutch. If the motorbike is started in gear, the rider can easily lose control.

Harley-Davidson has reported a total of 27 crashes and four minor injuries resulting from this issue.

It is not known as yet as to whether bikes in the UK have been affected and need to be recalled as well. For further information, or if you think your bike may be affected, contact your local Harley dealer here.
