Three members of the Connecticut Hells Angels motorcycle club were arrested in Rhode Island Saturday on weapons and drug charges following a routine motor vehicle stop, according to a news release from Rhode Island State Police.

Rhode Island State Troopers assigned to the Wickford and Hope Valley Barracks stopped four motorcycles on I-95 in East Greenwich. Troopers searched the motorcycles and seized a .357 caliber Charter Arms hand gun, synthetic psychoactive drugs known as MDMA, or Molly and four other weapons, the release states.

Mark Jones, 42, of 30 Judd Road, in the Terryville section of Plymouth, was charged with possession of weapons other than firearms.

Kenneth Michaels, 44, of 46 Hull St., Ansonia, was charged with possession of a schedule one drug, two counts of possession of weapons other than firearms and carrying a pistol without a license or permit.

Sean Oldroyd, 42, of 2863 Fairfield Ave., Bridgeport, was charged with possession of weapons other than firearms.

A fourth motorcyclist was cited for moving violations and released.

Michaels posted a $5,000 surety bond after being arraigned by a justice of the peace. Jones and Oldroyd posted $1,000 surety bonds after being arraigned by a justice of the peace.

"This is another example of nothing being routine about a 'routine traffic stop," Col. Steven G. O'Donnell stated in a news release. "I comment the troopers for their attention to detail and their understanding of the outlaw biker mentality of carrying weapons."
