Newfoundland and Labrador is the only province in Atlantic Canada with two outlaw motorcycle gangs - and both of them are located in Grand Falls-Windsor. That from RCMP Cpl. Mike Fewer. Cpl. Fewer says the Bacchus MC Newfoundland Chapter was created in central Newfoundland in January 2011. That same year in August, he says, a second biker club was formed, the Outlaws Canada Grand Falls-Windsor Chapter.

He says both of the clubs identify as 'one per cent' outlaw motorcycle gangs.

He says the one per cent patch is an open claim of outlaw status. He says the person wearing the patch doesn't respect society's laws. It dates back to 1947, when it was announced that 99 percent of motorcycle riders are law-abiding.

Cpl. Fewer says the RCMP monitor both groups, though it's not something the Grand Falls-Windsor detachment does on its own. He says they call on the help of other resources when needed, like during rides.

He says annually, these groups will have a large run that will draw a large number of members from all over Canada. When that happens, officers reach out to policing partners in other units.

Cpl. Fewer says the public can help in the fight against organized crime by contacting them if they witness suspicious activity.
